This Wilderness First Aid Course is ideal for those that work, play or travel in the Outdoors. Aligned to the National Skill Set SISSS00108_R3 ‘Wilderness First Aid’ and successful completion awards participants with the following Nationally Accredited Units of Competency.
- HLTAID003 ‘Provide First Aid’ (Including CPR)
- SISOOPS305A ‘Provide First Aid in a Remote Situation’
- SISXEMR201A ‘Respond to an Emergency’
- SISXEMR402A ‘Coordinate and Emergency Response’
- SISOHS101A ‘Follow defined OH&S Policies’
The course is delivered over 5 consecutive days from 8.30-17.30pm, and covers the following topics: DRSABCD(EFG) Action Plan, CPR, Unconscious Patient, First Aid Principles and Guidelines, Shock, Planning & Preparation for a Remote Location, Wounds, Fractures, Dislocations, Sprains and Strains, Spine Management, Coordinating an Emergency, Asthma, Anaphylaxis, Hypothermia, Hyperthermia, Bites and Stings, Abdominal Injuries, Head Injuries, Burns, Diabetes.
The first 2 Days are delivered both inside and outside covering the fundamentals of First Aid. Days 3-5 are then delivered predominantly outside using scenario’s in a bush environment to help simulate a realistic wilderness response.
